I woke at Deep Creek Hotsprings. Packed my bag kinda quick and then headed down to the river from where I was cowboy camping. Got to the sandy shoreline, dropped my stuff off and took a walk over to the nearest hot spring, not too far away. The water in this pool was being fed... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 28
I'm use to waking up before everyone, but this time was a little different. This time Second Chance Hiker was awake and packed before I even got up. As I packed and ate my breakfast he and I talked about the upcoming miles and that we will be hitting the 300 mile mark today. We... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 27
Packed up second and set off about 20 minutes after one of my tramly members. It was about 7 am and the morning was awesome. Pine trees, snow and a beautiful view were my office today. I'm trucking along at a decent pace and there were a few snow banks that took some time to... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 26
Woke up at about 6am in the hotel room, shaved my head, took my last shower for a while and grabbed breakfast from the lobby. Everyone packed up their new food resupply, took care of backpacking chores and we all met at the rental truck around 1030. We did rent a truck for the couple... Continue Reading →
PCT Days 24, 25
Tramly decided that it would be best to rest for a few days. We all had our own hotel rooms, life is good again. Free breakfast in the morning. After eating we picked up a rental truck so we could freely move around town easily. It was trippy driving after being out on the trail... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 23
The morning starts with an instantaneous climb again. Packed up before everyone and set off. In a mile I gain just about 1000ft. This mountain is kicking my ass. Every day has been a struggle up this thing. It's really making know just how outa shape I am. Pouring sweat, and with no real flat... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 22
Wish I took more photos of this day but the reality is that is was a very hard day and it was just extra effort to pull my camera out. Woke up at sunrise, laid on my pad for another hour, dealing with my thighs spazing and hurting. I watched the millipedes crawl through our... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 21
As the norm, I woke up early, packed my bag and headed out ahead of my tramly. After about a mile I'm greeted by the first actual river crossing so far. I crossed it and then took advantage of the situation and refilled my water while I waited for my crew to catch up Followed... Continue Reading →
PCT Day 20
We decided to skip about a 20 mile section of the trail that would have led us over Mt San Jacinto. At the time there were a lot of hikers turning around, some being rescued, others being put into very unsafe conditions. The snow was still a serious issue. None of us wanted to deal... PCT Days 18 and 19
